WINERY in BOZCAADA

Wineary in Bozcaada depends on a very old history. It became a lifestyle for the islands’ population more than an economic eford. Thennes who is an historical figure named the island, found the first wine tree and growed first Kuntra Grape. These kuntra grapes appears on the historical coins dated before century.

There are four types of  grapes produced within the islands wineyards ; These are cavus, kuntra, vasilaki and black cabbage types. Evliya Celebi who is a famous traveler wrote
“ The beautiful black grapes of bozcaada can be seen nowhere else in the world…”

Winegrowing has a long history in Bozcaada. Turks and Greeks lived in this island both worked for the achievement of winary for centuries. After 1925, Turks continued this tradition. Since the 1988 Cabarnet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes started to be seeded in the suitible lands of the island, enhanced the winery industry.
CAPRAZ WINE HOUSE

 Our facility owner Mr. Mehmet comes from the oldest winegrower family of the island. Privately owned North and northwest lands of the island is very suitable for the winegrowing. In this area we continue to produce wines in a 40.000 square meter wineyard.

We serve our Capraz Branded high quality wines to our guests in our Holiday Village.

These wines are ;

Vasilaki : Produced from the vasiaki grapes growed in northwest lands of the island. We advise this wine with the seafood and white meat. It is served in 17-18 degree.


Kuntura :  It is produced by our vineyard located the southern lands of Bozcaada with kuntra grapes. It is advised together with hard cheese and meat.

 Cabarnet Sauvignon : This wine is produced at our southern wineyard with Cabarnet Souvignoon grapes. It is advised with meat and seafood.
